Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or sausage
  • 4 cups high-quality marinara sauce
  • 2 cups fresh mozzarella, shredded
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese (whole milk)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and meat; cook until browned.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, salt, pepper, and basil. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. In a baking dish, layer sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, and more sauce. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake until golden brown on top.
  6. Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
