  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 5 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Food coloring (as desired)
  • Your favorite fillings (fruits or chocolates)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cake flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing gently until just combined.
  5. Divide batter evenly among prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cakes cool in pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  7. While cooling, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form; gradually add sifted powdered sugar until fluffy.
  8. Frost cooled cake layers and decorate as desired.
