  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk)
  • 4 hot dogs (beef, turkey, or plant-based)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Insert wooden skewers into each hot dog for easy handling.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, baking powder, chili powder, and salt. Gradually whisk in buttermilk until smooth.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Dip each hot dog into the batter until fully coated; let excess drip off.
  5. Fry the battered hot dogs for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels before serving.
