  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup M&M's candies (seasonal colors)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the M&M's, reserving some for topping if desired.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
