  • 3 lbs boneless pork shoulder
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 12 slider buns (brioche or potato)
  • 1 cup sliced pickles
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into chunks.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat with olive oil, sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until translucent (about 4–5 minutes).
  3. Season the pork with cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and bay leaves. Marinate in the fridge for at least one hour or overnight for best flavor.
  4. Sear the marinated pork in the skillet until browned on all sides (approximately 3 minutes per side).
  5. Add enough chicken broth or water to cover the meat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover tightly, and braise for 4–5 hours until fork-tender.
  6. Shred the pork with two forks and pile high onto slider buns. Top with sliced pickles and a smear of mustard before serving.
