Description

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or Italian herbs, chopped
  • ½ cup mozzarella or Parmesan cheese, shredded (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter; mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. While the dough rises, mix melted butter with minced garlic and chopped herbs.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into equal pieces. Shape into balls and place on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush tops with garlic butter mixture; bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
