Description

Mini Brown Butter Sourdough Cinnabons are a delightful twist on traditional cinnamon rolls.   • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, browned
  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (dark)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast by mixing it with warm milk and a teaspoon of sugar; let sit until frothy.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour and salt; add eggs and sourdough starter. Mix well.
  3. Brown the butter in a skillet until golden; add to the mixture along with activated yeast. Stir until shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let rise in an oiled bowl covered with a towel for about 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar, then roll up tightly.
  7. Slice into 1-inch pieces and place in a greased dish; let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
