  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3 large fresh eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar; add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the baking dish and bake for about 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and remaining sugar until smooth. Mix in orange juice, zest, and milk.
  5. Gently fold in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  6. Pour the filling over the pre-baked crust and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until set with a slight jiggle in the center.
  7. Cool completely before slicing into squares.
