  • 1214 lb whole turkey
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/4 cup fresh rosemary (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup fresh thyme (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup fresh sage (chopped)
  • 6 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 onion (quartered)
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Thaw the turkey in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. Remove giblets from inside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Pat the turkey dry and rub softened butter all over it.
  3. Generously season with salt and pepper.
  4. Mix chopped herbs and minced garlic; stuff under the turkey’s skin for flavor enhancement.
  5. Place quartered onions and lemon wedges inside the cavity.
  6. Pour chicken broth into a roasting pan and set the turkey breast-side up on a rack above it.
  7. Roast for approximately 13 minutes per pound, basting every 30 minutes until an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) is reached.
